The Foundation Behind the Framework

I am a culture builder, a leadership strategist, and a connector of dots.

Before founding 321…, I dedicated thirty years of my life to the United States Navy, retiring as a Captain. Having twice held Command and served as the Chief of Staff for the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), my playground was high-stakes, mission-critical environments where outcome-oriented execution was the only metric that mattered.

Throughout my military service, my core mission remained constant: removing institutional friction, breaking down operational silos, and unlocking the latent potential of “smart creatives” within rigid systems.

Moving Beyond the Uniform

Since transitioning from active duty, I have continued to pressure-test these leadership principles in the private sector. I have been a key part of the leadership team at two startups, served as a Managing Director at MITRE, and operated as an executive at Mantech.

Every single arena—from Navy command decks to commercial boardroom tables—reinforced the same undeniable reality:

Those three decades of hard-won, battlefield-tested insights became the cornerstone of my book, Connecting the Dots—a practical blueprint for cultural alignment, leadership development, and building organizational grit from the ground up.

What Drives Me Today

My professional chapter is built around the “Retirement Lab”—an ongoing, deliberate experiment in lifestyle design, intentional transitions, and performance mentorship. I no longer trade my time for a traditional W-2 track. Instead, I invest my energy into guiding others through their own critical turning points.

Through 321…, I stand shoulder-to-shoulder with people navigating the massive pivots of life and career. I know what it feels like to leave a familiar theater, step out of a uniform, or prototype an entirely new way of living. My mission is to help you take a strategic pause, align your strengths, and launch your next chapter with absolute clarity.

When I’m not partnering with clients or writing for the blog, you can usually find me pushing boundaries at the gym, trail running, engaging with the Annapolis and Edgewater communities, or simply enjoying the wonderful life my wife and I have built together.
